Custom Group Sequence

Custom Group Sequence allows the user to configure role-specific and/or time-based menu group layouts in the POS display to streamline order entry by labor type and part of the day. Follow the steps below to set up the sequence or order in which groups will display in the POS.

Note: Custom Group Sequence allows the Menu Groups to be sequenced differently for specific labor types. For example, the Servers will typically want the Food Groups first, followed by Beverages and Liquor, Beer, and Wine. The Bartender may wish to have a Speed Bar Group, followed by Liquor, Beer, Wine, and then the Food. The purpose of the Custom Group Sequence is to improve the efficiency of order entry for each labor type.

Steps:

  1. From RM, click Manage > Menu Manager > Enter the Menu Editor.

  2. Go to the Menu > Configuration page. Enable Custom Group Sequence.

  1. Click the Group > Custom Group Sequence page. Enable Custom Group Sequence to display all the group sequences.

  1. Click Add Group Sequence, and then Add Group Sequence pop-up displays.

  1. If the custom group sequence needs to be effective during time of the day. Uncheck the time “Always applies” and select the day of the week, start time, and end time of the Group Sequence. Click Next to continue.

Note: Custom Group Sequence offers a Time configuration. This feature may be used if your menu groups change based on the time of day. For example, you may offer a limited menu during lunch. You can create a Lunch Group Sequence with specified time parameters. The benefit of using this method over creating an alternate Lunch Menu is that the Custom Group Sequence will automatically appear and not require the menu to be changed manually, which is why the Custom Group Sequence is also referred to as Time-Based Menu.

  1. In the next step, you can select the labor types to apply this group sequence. Click Next to continue.

Note: To use a custom group sequence with a specific labor type, the employee must be clocked in as that labor type in POS.

  1. Select the menu groups that you want to include in this sequence and click Add. Drag and drop to change the Group Sequence.

  1. Click Save when finished.
