Inside the Text Marketing Calendar, you can schedule a new Coupon Campaign Text message using the following steps. To access Coupon, the user is required to have the associated user permissions regarding coupon creation.

Once a coupon is created it will be shown inside the “Coupons” page of HungerRush HUB but will have editing & deleting capabilities revoked to ensure any outgoing message has the appropriate coupon connected.

All coupon campaigns will be tracked in the Reports page for Text Marketing (Note: if a coupon is manually added to an Engagement campaign, it will not be tracked inside Reports).

Why it Matters

Scheduling a campaign from one central interface cuts down setup time and keeps messaging aligned with your brand’s tone. Plus, it ensures promotions are linked to data-driven outcomes by embedding trackable coupon parameters directly in your message.

Creating a Coupon Campaign

  1. Selecting 'Schedule Message' in the top right corner or clicking the '+' icon on a specific date.

2. Select “Start Coupon Campaign” from the popup module, then establish if the campaign will require a new coupon or should be using a pre-existing coupon (see new section).

Select Stores

Before creating a coupon campaign, you must select the store you want to send the message from. The selected store determines both billing responsibility and which customers are eligible to receive the message. Only stores with billing information properly configured will appear as available options. Billing is completed during the onboarding process).

Why This Matters

Store selection is the foundation of every Text Marketing campaign. It ensures messages are sent only from stores that are authorized to bill for SMS activity and that campaigns reach the correct audience. Each store maintains its own subscriber base, built from real customer purchase history and marketing opt-ins, which helps keep messaging relevant and compliant.

  • How Subscribers Are Assigned to Stores: Subscribers are automatically associated with stores based on customer behavior.
    • When a customer places an order at a store and opts into marketing communications, they are added as a subscriber for that specific store.
    • A customer may be a subscriber at multiple stores if they have ordered from multiple locations and opted in at each.
      • If the subscriber aligns with multiple stores the system will only send 1 text message based again the last store purchased.
    • Campaign messages are sent only to subscribers connected to the selected store.

Existing Coupon

The Text Marketing system allows for quick access to existing coupons that meet the designated requirements to be embedded into a text message. If the coupon does not meet the requirements, it will not be displayed on the list (ie. coupon is inactive).

Why it Matters

Using existing coupons saves time and standardizes offers. Unique Valcodes eliminate coupon abuse and ensure every redemption can be tied back to a specific campaign, providing clearer reporting on which messages perform best.

Requirements:

  • Coupon is marked as active
  • Coupon is not expired

Add Existing Coupon

To help you quickly locate the right coupon, the coupon table supports filtering and search. The table updates dynamically based on your selections. You can filter coupons using the following options:

  • Search by Valcode or Coupon Name: Use the search field to locate a specific coupon by entering its Valcode or coupon name.

  • Filter by Coupon Source: Narrow results by selecting the coupon source
    • Item-level coupons
    • Order-level coupons

  • Using the checkbox, select the designated coupon
  • Select “Add to Message” to add the coupon to the Text Marketing campaign

NOTE: Upon adding an existing coupon to the Text Marketing campaign, the Valcode will be auto generated to ensure a unique code is created.

VALUE: The Valcode is the coupon code that is presented to the end consumer for redemption; by auto generating a new code for each coupon we ensure security across all coupons.

Coupon Behavior by Source Order vs Item Level Coupons)

Once a coupon is selected, Text Marketing evaluates how it can be applied based on the coupon type and the stores selected for the campaign.

Order-Level Coupons

Order-level coupons are not dependent on a store’s menu and can be applied across multiple stores within a brand.

  • These coupons may have originally been assigned to a limited set of stores.
  • If you select additional stores during the campaign setup that were not part of the original coupon assignment, Text Marketing will request to add those stores to the coupon.
  • This allows the same order-level coupon to be used across all selected stores in the campaign.

This behavior ensures flexibility while maintaining centralized coupon management.

Item-Level Coupons

Item-level coupons are dependent on a store’s menu and require the associated items to exist at the store level.

  • Because menu availability varies by store, the system does not allow new stores to be added to an item-level coupon.
  • Text Marketing compares the stores originally assigned to the coupon with the stores selected during campaign setup.
  • If any selected stores do not align with the coupon’s original store assignments, the system presents an Exclude option.
  • Excluded stores will not receive the coupon in the campaign.

This process prevents campaigns from sending item-based offers to stores that do not have the required menu items available.

Valcode

After an existing coupon has been added to a Text Marketing campaign, you must assign a unique Valcode. The Valcode is the redemption code customers will use to apply the coupon and is required before the campaign can be sent.

  • Create a Custom Valcode: Enter a custom code that aligns with your promotion or brand messaging.
  • Auto-Generate a Valcode: Allow the system to automatically generate a unique 8-digit Valcode.

Both options ensure the Valcode is unique to the campaign and eligible for tracking.

New Coupon

The Text Marketing system allows for direct coupon creation without navigating through the couponing module. All coupons created through this portal will meet the designated coupon requirements and can be used again through the Existing Coupon flow.

Why it Matters

Being able to generate a new coupon directly inside your campaign workflow minimizes disruption and speeds up execution. It guarantees compatibility with your text campaign (avoiding misalignment or errors) and enforces validation logic to prevent misuse. This real-time creation process empowers marketers to be agile while ensuring technical consistency.

Creating New Coupon

  1. Select a store from the dropdown list to begin – this will define where the coupon is generated, then it can be pushed to multiple stores throughout the creation process.

2. Once a store is selected, the coupon parameters can be created through each individual field which align with Restaurant Manager coupon creation system.
