Once the campaign type (Engagement or Coupon) is established, the system directs you to the draft editor where all messaging can be generated. In the draft editor, you'll enter your message into a text field that mirrors what your customers will receive. The preview window on the right updates in real-time as you type.
Why it Matters
A well-written message can be the difference between a customer clicking “Order Now” or ignoring the text. The AI Assistant helps save time and ensures every message sounds on-brand, even for teams without dedicated marketing writers.
You can start typing any message you want your customers to receive in the messaging window or use the AI Assistant to help you write the perfect message. Messages must stay within 160 characters to avoid additional charges for multiple SMS segments
Naming Campaigns
Every message you send will require a campaign name, which makes it easy to track performance later. Youʼll find the naming option at the top of your message draft—just click into the field and type a campaign name up to 30 characters, then save.
Campaign Name is a required field to ensure our reporting maintains accurate information, and the system will not allow you to schedule a message until it’s completed.
Text Message Content
Start writing your text message in the drafting field by clicking into the box and start typing to compose your message to customers. The language shown in grey indicates dynamic field that will be pre-filled or hardcoded messaging required by law.
- Start Typing or Insert {AI Prompt Here} - This is where all custom messaging will be added.
Use the AI assistant to help generate content quickly! Keep in mind, AI Assistant is setup to generate text messages, so all prompts will orient around that theme. It can be:
A command
→ "Write a poem about food."
A scenario or setup
→ "Imagine you're a chef, planning a dinner for a foodie."
A structured template
→ Summarize the following recipe in three bullet points."
- In short: a prompt is what you say to get the AI to do what you want. The clearer and more specific the prompt, the better the result.
- Order: https://... - This is only applicable for “Coupon Campaigns” as it directs customers to the coupon details landing page where they can gain a deeper insight on the coupon parameters. From the landing page, the customer will be able to access the online ordering site for coupon redemption and order placement.
- See Coupon Landing Page for more information
- STOP to End – To ensure the message aligns will regulatory Text Message laws this language is added to all messages so that customer can unsubscribe from the messaging if necessary. This field cannot be removed from message.
Brand Name Missing
To ensure Text Marketing campaigns align with SMS marketing best practices, the system will automatically present a “Brand Name Missing” notification until the brand name is added to the content field.
Why it Matters
Adding your brand name of all SMS messaging ensures that your subscribers recognize the source of the message and click through to redeem your promotion. Without a brand name the message could appear to be spam, causing subscribers to avoid the content.
Example
- No Brand Name: Love great pizza, for a limited time you can get $10 off your next order at http://fake.com
- Brand Name Included: Love great pizza from Johnʼs Pizza, for a limited time you can get $10 off your next order at http://fake.com
Character & Segment Count
Text Marketing includes a Character and Segment counter to help ensure your messages stay within standard SMS limits. Exceeding these limits can cause your message to be split into multiple parts, resulting in additional charges.
- Character Count: To be sent as a single SMS, your message must contain fewer than 160 characters and follow the GSM-7 encoding standard. Exceeding this may increase the segment count.
- Segment Count: A standard SMS equals one segment. If your message exceeds one segment, it will be split accordingly. Each segment is billed as a separate SMS.
Testing Message
You can send yourself a test message to preview how it will appear to customers by selecting “Test Message” inside the preview field and entering a mobile number.
Schedule & Availability
The final step in creating a Text Marketing campaign is selecting the date and time the message will be sent, and defining the coupon availability window so subscribers know when it can be redeemed, if a coupon is included.
Schedule Text Message
When you're ready, set the date and time for your text message - this defines when the text message will be sent to the customer. Date and Time can be established by clicking the 'Date & Time' field to open a calendar/time selector.
Preview: The calendar will provide high-level visibility of all additional campaigns scheduled during that month, while also showing the new campaign in red.
Why it Matters: Texting at the right time improves open and redemption rates. The schedule ensures you avoid early-morning or late-night messages, which could annoy customers or violate carrier regulations. Multi-time-zone support ensures national brands maintain a consistent customer experience.
Quite Hours: Messages can only be scheduled between 9AM and 7PM to comply with TCPA quiet hour requirements. If your store group spans multiple time zones, the system will alert you and prompt you to select the correct one.
- Select Timezone: This dropdown will display all associated timezones so that the appropriate timezone will align with the text message.
Coupon Availability
(Not applicable for Engagement Campaigns)
Now that the Sending Date & Time has been established, we need to define when the coupon will be available. For example, you may want to schedule a text message to be sent Thursday afternoon but have the coupon able to be redeemed throughout the entire weekend. This feature allows you to define the start date and expiration date of that coupon.
Why it Matters
Decoupling the message send time from the coupon validity gives you flexibility. Send a promo today, but activate it this weekend—this aligns with your store’s operational goals and encourages more thoughtful, timed redemptions.
Sending Date & Time is marked as the green circle and unable to be edited here; any adjustments to the sending timeframe will need to be made in the Sending Date & Time window.
- From: By selecting the “from” field at the top you will be able to select a date on the calendar to define when the coupon is first available.
Coupon start dates do not have a time adjustment function and will always be available at the Start of Day for that selected date.
- To: By selecting the “to” field at the top, you will be able to select a date on the calendar to define when the coupon expires.
Coupon expiration dates do not have a time adjustment function and will always be available until the End of Day for that selected date.
Audience
Text Marketing includes the total number of subscribers this message will reach based on the stores that were selected. Additional stores can be added to Engagement campaigns by using the “Select Stores” button and adding new locations from the list.
Why it Matters
Having cost transparency upfront lets you stay within your marketing budget and evaluate the ROI of your outreach. It helps you adjust targeting or timing before hitting send, rather than reacting after the campaign has already run.
Selecting the “Extend Audience” icon next to Total Subscribers will allow the user to send their message to previously imported subscribers that fall outside of HungerRush marketing lists. Access to Import new customers is available here.
Total Subscribers: This is the native number of subscribers that are assigned to the stores selected during “Store Selection”
Anticipated Cost: Based on pricing per message and the total number of subscribers the message will reach.
Schedule Message
Once the message is finalized, a campaign name is added, date & time are established (coupon availability if applicable), and all testing is completed, the message can be scheduled by using the “Schedule” button.
Consent checkbox must be activated to continue with scheduling the campaign.
After this is selected, the newly created campaign is displayed on the Text Marketing calendar. Edits can be made by selecting the campaign up to 15minutes prior to sending.
Drafts & Deleting Messages
Want to finish later? No problem—click 'Save Draft' and your message will remain in the calendar. You can return at any time to finish it.
NOTE: You cannot make edits or delete a campaign within 15 minutes of a message being sent. After that, the system locks the message to ensure proper delivery. A banner will be presented at the top of the drafting field to indicate the message is unable to be edited/deleted.
