Label Printer Configuration Settings

Label Printers have many configuration options to suit your restaurant's needs. This page reviews the label printer settings available in the Printer Configuration menu in the HUB. 

All the images in this guide can be enlarged by clicking/touching on them.

First, log into the HungerRush Restaurant Management HUB, and navigate to the Manage > System tab (Direct link to this section)

Select your store from the dropdown, then select 'Printer Configuration' in the list at the left side of the page

At the top of this settings window, select the 'Label Printers' tab to access the label printer settings

Within this menu, you can view and modify the following settings:

(1) The table at the upper left of the window will show all of your store's system printers, with a checkmark in the 'Is Label' column if that printer is assigned to print labels.

(2) The gear icon beside the printer will allow you to adjust the label printing options for that printer.

Once you select this icon, you will be able to configure the following options:

• (2a) The 'Is Label' checkbox adjusts whether this printer is assigned to be used as a label printer.
  • Other options in this section will not function unless this has been checked for the selected printer.
• (2b) will allow you to select the desired Label Format for this printer.
  • Examples of available formats:
    • Standard: Includes items assigned to the label printer, 'extras' section with other items on the order, and order cost totals together.

• No Totals: Includes items assigned to the label printer and an extras section with other items on the order. All order cost totals are left blank.

• No Extras: Includes items assigned to the label printer and the order subtotal/tax/delivery fee. Items not assigned to the label print category are not printed.

• No Totals, No Extras: Includes only the items assigned to the label printer.

• (2c) shows all print categories that are currently assigned to print labels on this printer
  • To add/remove a category, click the circle toggle button to the right of that category's name. Filled circles mean that the category will print on labels, while empty circles will not.
  • In order for items to print on a label printer, they must be assigned a print category that is enabled for that printer.

• (2d) Once you are finished with your changes to a label printer, select the 'Save' icon to the right of that printer

(3) To add a new Kitchen Print Category, input the desired name in the box in the middle of this window and select the green plus (+) button.

• The new category will appear in the table at the bottom of this window
• NOTE: You MUST assign items to this new print category before the printer will be able to print any labels/tickets for that category. See this page on our menu editor's items subsection for information on adding or changing the print category of an item 

Once a printer is selected, you can also configure each of the following options:

• (4) 'Stage Print Only' will stop the printer from automatically printing its assigned items when an order is sent. Instead, the printer will now print its assigned items when a printing stage event is triggered. (See these articles on creating and editing Stage Events and Stage Sequences) This allows you to control when the labels print during the order making process
  • Example: If this setting is Enabled, and stage event has been created that triggers label printing upon entering the 'On Road' stage, then orders that include items assigned to this printer will only print labels when the 'On Road' stage is triggered by an order type's stage sequence.
  • This setting can be especially useful if your store wants to print order labels after the items have been made (ex: a Pizza restaurant that wants the box labels to print after the orders exit the oven).
    • Please note that this setup requires a kitchen display to bump the order and trigger the stage transition.
• (5) 'Print All Labels on Update' forces the label printer to reprint all labels for an order any time the order is updated (items added or removed). This is useful to ensure the information on all labels are updated to reflect the new contents of the order.
  • Example: If a store has a label printer dedicated to pizza items, and this setting is Disabled, then an order with two pizzas that has one more pizza added on will only print one extra label when the new item is sent. 
  • By contrast, if this setting is Enabled, the printer will instead print three labels when the new item is sent, to replace the original two labels that were printed the first time the order was sent.
• (6) 'Header for Deferred Orders' will print an additional label with the customer name and due time when printing other labels for deferred orders.
• (7) 'Print Modified Items Only' will restrict the printer to only print items that have modifiers added/changed/removed and whose print category has been enabled for this printer.
  • Example: If a restaurant has a label printer for pizzas, and an order contains one standard pizza and one pizza with lite sauce, the printer will only print a label for the pizza with lite sauce since the other pizza has no modifiers.

Once you are finished with updating the label printer's settings, select the square 'Save' icon beside that printer's name, and select the 'Save Label Printers' button at the bottom right of the window.

Note: In order for these settings to take effect, you must wait 1-2 minutes after saving your changes in HUB, then restart Station 1. Keep in mind that your other stations will be unable to take orders while this station is down, so avoid making label printer setting changes during peak hours.
