The System Printers tab in the Printer Configuration window allows you to add a new printer or adjust the Auto Quantity and Tax printing settings for a printer. Printers must first be added here before they can be configured as a Customer, Kitchen, or Label printer. This guide explains the process for adding a printer and configuring the Auto Quantity and List Each Tax Type options.
Note: In order to add a new printer in this menu, the printer must first be connected to a station or network connection in your store, AND the printer must be configured on a station. After a new printer has been connected and powered on, contact HungerRush Support for assistance with configuring a new printer with a station.
AFTER INSTALL, MOST SETTINGS IN THIS MENU SHOULD NOT BE ADJUSTED. For each printer, the 'Station', 'Windows Printer', and 'Printer Model' settings should NEVER be adjusted unless directed by support personnel. Altering these settings can result in printer malfunction.
All the images in this guide can be enlarged by clicking/touching on them.
First, log into the HungerRush Restaurant Management HUB and navigate to the Manage > System tab (Direct link to this section)
Select your store from the dropdown, then select 'Printer Configuration' in the list at the left side of the page
After selecting 'Printer Configuration', the window will default to the System Printers tab
- (1) The left box will list all of the installed System Printers, while the fields on the right will allow you to adjust the settings for a printer or add a new printer if an existing one is not already selected
- (2) To adjust a printer's settings, select the gear icon to the right of that printer's name in the list
-
(3) To delete a printer, use the trashcan icon to the right of that printer's name in the list
- NOTE: Once a printer is deleted, it cannot be undone. Please consult HungerRush Support for further guidance before attempting to remove a system printer.
Each printer has the following settings:
- (4) Station lists the name of the station the printer is connected to. In most configurations, Kitchen and Label Printers will be connected over the network to Station 1, while Customer Receipt printers will usually be connected to the station they print orders for. THIS SETTING SHOULD NOT BE ADJUSTED WITHOUT GUIDANCE FROM SUPPORT.
- (5) Printer Name is the internal system name used for the printer, and cannot be changed after a printer is added.
- (6) Windows Printer is the printer name used by Windows on the station the printer is connected to. THIS SETTING SHOULD NOT BE ADJUSTED WITHOUT GUIDANCE FROM SUPPORT.
-
(7) Printer Model defines the type of printer and basic format settings that should be used. THIS SETTING SHOULD NOT BE ADJUSTED WITHOUT GUIDANCE FROM SUPPORT. SETTING THE WRONG PRINTER MODEL CAN CAUSE MALFUNCTION.
- FullPage is used on standard office printers for printing Full-Size reports
- P80 is used on Bluetooth printers (Depreciated, DO NOT USE)
-
T88/T88-NC are used by thermal printers (ex: Citizen CT-E301 or Epson TM88IV)
- T88 will auto-cut the paper after every printed receipt, while T88-NC will not cut the paper automatically.
-
U220/U220-NC are used by impact printers (ex: Epson U220)
- U220 will auto-cut the paper after every printed receipt, while U220-NC will not cut the paper automatically.
- Zebra is used by label printers (ex: Citizen CL-E300, Zebra GK420t)
-
(8) Allow Auto Quantity will identify duplicate items on an order and combine them to one line item with a quantity on printouts.
- Note: The 'Auto Quantity Printing' setting must be enabled in both menu and group settings in the Menu Editor for this setting to function properly. See these articles on our Menu Editor for information on enabling this:
- Example: If this setting is enabled on a printer, and an order containing two Breadsticks items is printed, these items will print as one line marked '2 Breadsticks' instead of two separate item lines marked 'Breadsticks'
-
(9) List Each Tax Type will list out all applicable tax types on an order instead of combining them into one tax line.
- Example: If your store uses both a State and City tax, and this setting is Enabled, the taxes will both print as separate lines on receipts. If this setting is Disabled, the two taxes will be combined into one line labeled as 'Tax'
-
(10) Allow PrefMbr Auto Quantity will identify duplicate preference members on an order and combine them into one line item with a quantity on printouts
- Note: The 'Auto Quantity Printing' setting must be enabled in both menu and group settings in the Menu Editor for this setting to function properly. See these articles on our Menu Editor for information on enabling this:
- Example: If this setting is enabled on a printer, and an order is printed that has the 'Fries' preference member selected on two items, the pref members will be printed on the receipt as '2 Fries' instead of two separate pref member lines marked 'Fries'
(4) After adjusting the settings for the printer, save your changes by pressing the 'Add' button if you are setting up a new printer or the 'Update' button if you are altering the settings on an existing printer. Press the 'Cancel' button to undo your changes.
Note: After any change to a printer's setting, the station that printer is connected to must be restarted. For kitchen and label printers, this means restarting Station 1. Be advised that this will leave your other stations unable to take orders until that station reboots. We recommend avoiding any adjustments to System Printers during store business hours.
